To develop a small website to allow a small glass painting business to manage, display, sell and promote its products and services online. The resulting site would also need to be easy for the owner to update themselves.
As the main purpose of the site was to act as a shop window for the artist’s products I took the decision to use WooCommerce alongside WordPress. Woocommerce is a highly customisable and easy to use eCommerce platform that quickly allows a user to create product pages for their online business. This meant that I could not only create individual pages for each glass item, but also product type pages too.
With this accomplished, I needed to ensure we didn’t take the focus away from the products and the artist. So, I then created a clear unfussy homepage that put the products front and centre, and made the process to purchase the items seamless.
I also provided several ways to connect and interact with the artist/business owner: –
• putting links to their social media accounts
• providing several calls to action to push people get in contact.
Finally I provided upcoming events functionality and a blog to allow the artist/business owner to provide updates to website visitors, and a sign up process the get any updates automatically.
